The Museum of Transport and Technology displays New Zealand's most complete collection of civil and military aircraft, representing over a century of aviation history.
Sunday
Auster J/1B Aiglet
This aircraft was painted in a 1950's scheme as a fictitious 'NZ1708'. The RNZAF operated six J/5 aircraft (NZ1701-1706) and a sole T7c Antarctic modified aircraft (NZ1707). The latter aircraft was held by MOTAT prior to being swapped with the RNZAF museum for ZK-BWH.
This Auster has now been repainted into a civil scheme and will be back on display in the main hanger in the near future.
